The Director of Sales-Select Service has direct oversight of sales and marketing operations for a Select Service hotel. This role is responsible for achieving optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding hotel profit objectives. The position oversees the hotel sales department, including direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring, training, coaching, and staff management. Responsibilities include the sales and marketing budget, forecast, advertising, marketing and business plans for no more than one Select Service hotel, operating within approved plans and budgets. Exempt associates are expected to work as necessary to complete duties, with primary duties involving administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50% of the time and using discretion and independent judgment more than 50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license in the applicable state
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to negotiate, persuade, and influence managerial personnel, hotel guests, and corporate clients
  • Professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong organization and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse backgrounds and manage a productive sales team
  • Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing/hospitality practices
  • Ability to work well under stress and maintain objectivity
  • Ability to work with and interpret financial information and basic arithmetic

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize revenue
  • Develop, implement, and manage the division’s annual budget and advertising, public relations, marketing and sales plans to maximize rate, occupancy, and food & beverage opportunities, ensuring revenue and profit goals
  • Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours, and client entertaining
  • Understand and negotiate terms in contracts
  • Maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
  • Monitor top accounts and evaluate market trends
  • Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality regulations, standards, and sales metrics
  • Achieve individual and team goals and budgeted metrics
  • Train staff to capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue
  • Develop working knowledge of hotel operations across Sales, F&B, Front Office and Reservations
  • Maintain visibility in local community and industry organizations
  • Attend and/or conduct regular meetings and provide training as needed
  • Collaborate with marketing partners and internal departments (e.g., Second Wave, Aimbridge Digital)
  • Travel weekly as required
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence as directed
  • Access to back-of-house areas and sensitive information; interact with guests and colleagues; handle secure areas responsibly
  • Drive safely for company business and maintain trust and professional integrity
