Job Description
The Payroll Supervisor oversees day-to-day payroll functions, supervises payroll staff, and ensures integrity across payroll, general ledger, and operations modules. They assist with system upgrades, configurations, and changes.
Responsibilities
Supervise payroll activities, including processing, time tracking, and compliance.
Review payroll calculations for accuracy and legal compliance.
Manage payroll tax deposits and filings.
Audit employee transactions and commissions.
Oversee deductions, insurance premiums, and worker compensation payments.
Ensure legal compliance and report on wage and payroll activities.
Handle general ledger functions related to payroll, including journals and reconciliations.
Assist with audits, reporting, and policy documentation.
Collaborate with HR on union contracts and benefits.
Identify process improvements and maintain confidentiality.
Participate in system updates and training, traveling up to 10% as needed.
Essential Skills
Experience in payroll processing, accounting, and management.
Proficiency in multi-state payroll, especially in California and Washington.
Knowledge of debits, credits, and payroll taxes.
Supervisory or leadership experience.
Qualifications
Associate Degree preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
5+ years in payroll processing and accounting.
3+ years supervising or giving feedback to staff.
Work Environment
On-site, 8 AM to 5 PM, in San Leandro, CA. Full-time, direct placement.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000/year. Competitive benefits available upon screening.
