Overview
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Director, Software Engineering - Shared Services to lead the strategy, delivery, and support of enterprise platforms, integration and testing capabilities. This role is accountable for foundational technologies including AWS, Kubernetes, NATS, integration platforms (EDI, Mulesoft), and centralized testing services—all essential to the success of GP’s digital initiatives across all business segments. This is an onsite role (3 days in office) based out of our Atlanta GP office. Our Team
GP’s Software Engineering & Integration team’s core competency is designing, building, delivering, and maintaining custom software solutions and integrations. We recently initiated our transformation journey, creating functions and capabilities that enable engineers to have major impacts on GP’s business performance. We seek to build functionality once, so engineers are encouraged to re-use their peers’ work and modify them to meet new use cases. We focus on delivering profitable business outcomes by partnering with business analysts, delivery leaders, and quality engineers to build the right solution at the right speed. What You Will Do
Guide and enable each team member in the Shared Services organization to realize their potential and make their greatest contribution to the organization’s vision. Hire, develop, and retain employees who are motivated to contribute and who bring diverse aptitudes, strengths and passions to the team. Promote and apply the Principle Based Management culture within the team and organization. Drive the vision and roadmap for GP’s shared enterprise platforms and services, developing strategies for delivering robust, scalable solutions that enable internal and external business applications. Oversee the deployment, reliability, and continuous improvement of the enterprise platforms we maintain, such as Kubernetes, NATS, Grafana and other core platforms, ensuring alignment with business needs and industry best practices. Lead the delivery and support of integration capabilities (EDI, Mulesoft), collaborating with business and IT teams to enable seamless data exchange and process automation across GP’s ecosystem. Build and manage centralized testing services, promoting defect prevention, automated testing, supporting various GP application teams. Create a culture of ongoing optimization, regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and engineering practices applying economic thinking. Foster strategic partnerships with vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and optimal tool acquisition. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging tech, driving innovation and transformation in platform operations, integration, and testing. Drive the adoption of GenAI tools within your capability, continuing to transform ways of working and driving productivity improvements. Collaborate and be a challenge partner with the other SE&I and IT Capabilities. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Proven foundational experience with cloud platforms (AWS), container orchestration (Kubernetes), messaging technologies (NATS), and integration platforms (EDI, Mulesoft) Proven leadership in building and scaling platform and integration capabilities for a large, distributed organization Demonstrated experience applying and/or implementing Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC Experience with global, distributed technical teams Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship What Will Put You Ahead
