The School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies invites applications for a clinical-track Academic Faculty in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Hofstra University. The Department welcomes applications for Physician Assistant faculty. The Hofstra Northwell Department of Physician Assistant Studies’ mission is to create an interprofessional environment that fosters PA leaders and scholars who deliver empathetic, patient-centered care and promote inclusivity to diverse populations. Teaching Responsibilities

Provides dual-degree, didactic year, clinical year and/or research semester instruction. Courses in the PA program are offered and required during Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Instructs and assesses students in courses such as physical examination and diagnostic modalities, correlative medicine, structure lab, simulation activities, and summative exams. Proctors examinations. Identifies students with performance deficiencies and develops remediation strategies. Acts as liaison to core faculty for college resources, textbooks, and teaching materials. Updates instructional materials on learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and ensures course materials are posted. Other related responsibilities as determined by the program director. Faculty Program Responsibilities

Participate in program committees and in School governance. Develop scholarly projects and participate in faculty development and the Physician Assistant Education Association. Represent the PA Department in university-wide and community admissions events and other activities as required. Serve as a reviewer and evaluator in the selection of applicants as a member of the Admissions Committee. Provide academic counseling to students. Participate in curriculum development, design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program. Ensure availability of remediation and participate in program accreditation-related duties. Attend and participate in required orientations and departmental meetings. Other related responsibilities as determined by the program director. Administrative Responsibilities: Research Coordinator (Supplemental)

Coordinate the research semester and schedule; ensure student registration for research courses. Monitor, update, and revise syllabi; coordinate instructional sessions. Create and grade student assignments and assessments; develop instruments to assess course outcomes and adherence to accreditation requirements. Develop participatory research opportunities and identify research sites and on-site preceptors. Obtain IRB approval as necessary; draft data use agreements and clearance documentation. Support grant proposals and mentor faculty research activities; disseminate research findings. Review and update the student handbook with academic coordinators. Note: Administrative duties as Research Coordinator are conducted by the incumbent upon approval via supplemental administrative appointment. Appointments are issued and renewed/discontinued each academic year; compensation is via stipend in addition to base salary. Reports To

Directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director and responsible to the Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and the Dean of the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. Qualifications

Has a minimum of a terminal degree in their field (e.g., public health, health professions education, or related field). Knowledge of and commitment to the physician assistant profession. Willingness to participate in a collective faculty process. Special Instructions
