Payroll Specialist at Utah Disaster Kleenup

Overview We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the payroll function for our construction company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll principles, labor laws, and construction industry-specific regulations.

Responsibilities

Manage the full payroll cycle for all employees, including weekly and off-cycle payroll runs.

Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation.

Handle prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting for government projects.

Manage payroll deductions for garnishments, and other withholdings.

Reconcile and prepare payroll-related general ledger entries.

Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, including those specific to the construction industry.

Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner.

Work closely with the HR and accounting departments to ensure seamless integration and accurate reporting.

Prepare and submit all required payroll tax filings.

Conduct internal audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll.

Proven experience in a construction or related industry, with an understanding of prevailing wage and certified payroll.

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and payroll regulations.

Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Viewpoint) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
