Blacklock are partnered with a leading Private Equity firm that is seeking a driven and experienced Associate to join its Industrials investment team, based in Chicago. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing platform with a strong track record of investing across sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace & defense, building products, transportation & logistics, and industrial technology.
Key Responsibilities
Support the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities in the Industrials sector Conduct detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses, including LBO, DCF, precedent transactions, and trading comps Perform market, industry, and company-level due diligence, coordinating with management teams, consultants, and advisors Prepare internal investment committee materials, portfolio company updates, and sector deep dives Partner with portfolio company management teams to drive value creation and monitor operational and financial performance Contribute to the ongoing development of junior team members while working closely with Vice Presidents, Principals, and Partners on deal execution and portfolio management Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a comparable role with significant transaction exposure; prior Industrials experience is a plus Strong understanding of M&A processes, LBO modeling, and investment evaluation Demonstrated interest in the Industrials sector with awareness of key trends and strategic dynamics Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CapIQ, Bloomberg, and PitchBook preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier institution; MBA or relevant postgraduate experience is advantageous
