Blacklock are partnered with a leading Private Equity firm that is seeking a driven and experienced Associate to join its Industrials investment team, based in Chicago. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing platform with a strong track record of investing across sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace & defense, building products, transportation & logistics, and industrial technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities in the Industrials sector
  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses, including LBO, DCF, precedent transactions, and trading comps
  • Perform market, industry, and company-level due diligence, coordinating with management teams, consultants, and advisors
  • Prepare internal investment committee materials, portfolio company updates, and sector deep dives
  • Partner with portfolio company management teams to drive value creation and monitor operational and financial performance
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of junior team members while working closely with Vice Presidents, Principals, and Partners on deal execution and portfolio management

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a comparable role with significant transaction exposure; prior Industrials experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of M&A processes, LBO modeling, and investment evaluation
  • Demonstrated interest in the Industrials sector with awareness of key trends and strategic dynamics
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CapIQ, Bloomberg, and PitchBook preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier institution; MBA or relevant postgraduate experience is advantageous
