Section Chief of Electrical & Instrumentation Contracts – NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP). Responsibilities

Supervising Engineers of various disciplines & titles in the preparation and management of Requirement-Type Expense Contracts. Assigns work, ensures deadlines are met, and oversees staff support of contracting methods in performing highly complex maintenance and repair work. Allocate staff workload to support coordination and review specifications, submittals, and schedules related to such projects. Responding to work requests from Bureau Facilities by issuing contract work orders using various contracting means (OMO, Expense, etc.). Directs Engineers and Assistant Engineers to notify all concerned parties on the status of high priority projects on a daily or semi-weekly basis. Oversees emergency requests to ensure that 100% of emergency work requests are completed within a reasonable time. Assigns emergency work to an Engineer or Assistant Engineer within 24 hours and notifies all parties that they will be the point of contact until repair completion. Trains Engineers and Assistant Engineers to prepare specifications. Maintains updated lists of all projects and briefs the Division Chief on status weekly. Presents staff status on contracts at monthly meetings. Keeps abreast of technical innovations and recommends training and seminars to the Division Chief. Manages the staff\'s overtime budget within budgetary guidelines, overtime caps, and compensatory time policies. Ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations related to contract work. Monitors usage and performance of critical equipment to prevent problems and address vulnerabilities in a timely manner. Demonstrates knowledge of and support for EEO standards and procedures. Promotes a workplace free from safety hazards and ensures adherence to environmental, health and safety laws, rules, and DEP EH&S policies. Minimum Qualifications

A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering or plan examining work, with at least two (2) years in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity. Preferred Skills

Knowledge of NYC Procurement Rules & Regulations. Familiarity with contract and specification development. Strong report writing and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Additional Information
