Position Title:
Director of Clinical Operations – Physician Practice Management Location:
Confidential – Regional Health Network Our client is seeking an experienced healthcare operations leader to oversee the strategic, administrative, and financial performance of a growing portfolio of physician practices, including primary care, adolescent medicine, and specialty clinics. This individual will drive operational excellence across multiple sites, align practice performance with system-wide goals, and act as a key liaison between physicians, executive leadership, and ancillary departments. This role requires a hands-on, solutions-focused leader who thrives in dynamic environments and has a proven track record of optimizing clinical workflows, improving financial outcomes, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of key operational strategies across multiple medical practices to support access to care, growth, and clinical excellence.
Oversee day-to-day operations, financial performance (including P&L oversight), and resource allocation for assigned physician groups and outpatient programs.
Identify and implement improvements in practice workflows, data use, and operational systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
Serve as the principal administrative contact for physicians and department leaders; provide operational leadership while supporting clinical and financial objectives.
Develop and manage reporting dashboards and performance metrics across departments; track progress toward goals and identify opportunities for course correction.
Facilitate strategic partnerships between physician teams and hospital service lines to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Monitor and improve billing operations, documentation practices, coding accuracy, and revenue cycle processes in collaboration with finance and compliance teams.
Guide performance management for clinical and administrative staff, including productivity tracking, performance evaluations, and ongoing training initiatives.
Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on value-based care, cost containment, and quality improvement across all assigned clinical programs.
Ensure that contractual agreements, third-party relationships, and referral sources are aligned with long-term strategic goals and optimized for financial performance.
Develop contingency plans and lead responses to operational challenges, staffing issues, or external regulatory changes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, or a related field
3–5 years of progressive healthcare operations experience
Direct supervisory and team leadership experience in a clinical setting
Demonstrated experience working in diverse and community-focused healthcare environments
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related) strongly preferred
Familiarity with key practice operations concepts: RVUs, payer contracting, physician compensation models, billing workflows, and compliance requirements
Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and operational KPIs
Effective communicator, capable of building trust and alignment across clinical and administrative teams
Knowledge of ambulatory care operations, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement initiatives
Ability to assess and solve complex operational challenges using data, evidence-based practices, and strategic thinking
Skilled in leading multidisciplinary initiatives and working collaboratively with senior leadership
