The

General Store Manager (GM)

is responsible for the management of the ongoing day-to-day operations of the store, while adhering to Company policies and procedures; direct supervision of staff; maximizing store profits and ensuring a high level of customer services and store appearance. Responsibilities

Gauges of Responsibility Maximize store profitability through managing all controllable expenses, optimizing revenue, and leading and developing a high-performing team.

Responsible for guest and associate satisfaction, exceeding brand standards and managing store profitability.

Select, develop, and lead a highly engaged team.

Cultivate a positive shopping experience for all guests. Respond to guest complaints or inquiries. Solicit guest feedback and input; review information and create plans to meet guest expectations.

Staff the store to cover guest and business demands of a 24/7 operation. Proactively identify hiring needs across the store.

Allocate resources, delegate work, and manage time through efficient scheduling and labor hours.

Conduct all aspects of management training and monitor training to ensure proficiency and safety.

Create and sustain an inclusive store atmosphere and promote a productive, engaged team environment.

Value store associates through celebration and recognition.

Support development of associates and store management through talent management processes (e.g., performance management, development plans, career conversations, and development opportunities).

Provide direction and support for the team, monitor work to high standards, give feedback and coaching, provide development opportunities, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when needed, and participate in hiring decisions.

Ensure store conditions meet or exceed safety, service, and operational efficiency standards by analyzing opportunities and executing policies, procedures, practices, and programs.

Adhere to work designs and implement improvement actions; manage safety programs and ensure proper execution and compliance.

Report and document all guest and associate incidents; ensure compliance with all laws and company policies.

Lead change initiatives, champion programs, and educate associates on the need for change; ensure programs are executed and sustained.

Meet or exceed key performance metric targets; deliver budgeted merchandise gross profit by implementing the merchandise plan.

Maintain awareness of store-level and organizational financial performance trends to help achieve profitability.

Monitor shift cash handling and inventory; assist investigations into shortages/overages and inventory variances.

Manage financial plans by reviewing financial reports and taking action to achieve goals; ensure execution of plans.

Analyze income statements and use reports to ensure profitability; manage inventory to maximize sales and control costs; manage cash procedures.

Build relationships with community partners to connect the store with its community.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be available for flexible hours including day, night, weekends and/or holidays.

Leadership experience in fast-paced retail, food service, or fuel environment preferred.

Experience selecting, training, and managing staff.

Experience with labor allocation, sales building, scheduling, and managing expenses.

Experience coaching and developing team members through leadership.

Physical ability to reach, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs. during a shift.

Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

1-2 years of supervisory experience.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
