Overview
Senior Data Modeler – Local to Massachusetts only. Onsite in the financial district, downtown Boston, 3 days per week. 6 month contract with extensions. Must be 100% dedicated to data modeling. No relocation or visa sponsorship. W2 employment status only. Client is seeking a Senior Data Modeler (Contract) to join our growing team. As a Data Modeler, you will collaborate with product teams, data engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical, and physical data models. You will help design and implement data models for analytical, operational, and transactional solutions. Responsibilities
Partner with Architects, Engineers, Analysts and product owners to design and manage the structure of an organization\'s data systems to optimize data storage, accessibility, and usability Develop and establish data modeling standards for analytical, operational, and transactional databases Create logical, conceptual, and physical data models for analytical, operational, and transactional solutions Enforce and maintain compliance with data modeling standards across all solutions Provide data modeling guidance and coaching to developers and engineers; may mentor technical team members Collaborate with data governance on cataloging, data-related policies, and data lineage activities Serve as a subject matter expert for development teams during implementation Document and maintain data modeling artifacts; act as custodian of the data models; publish models for wider organizational use Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, or related field 5+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic data modeling experience Strong SQL knowledge with experience in databases such as PostgreSQL and Snowflake Ability to define data modeling standards and guidelines and help teams adopt them for large-scale, global data-driven implementations Hands-on experience with data modeling, ER diagrams, and enterprise software design for OLTP and analytical systems; good understanding of semantic data modeling concepts, multi-fact models, and time-series data handling Experience with modeling tools (PowerDesigner, Erwin, ER/Studio, or similar) Ability to quickly grasp technical and business concepts, domain concepts, and key entities Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience communicating with engineers, architects and product management Ability to assess accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data models and maintain relevant documentation Experience working in an agile development environment with short release cycles Note: Referrals or other postings found in the original text have been removed to focus on the Senior Data Modeler role described above.
