A Day in the Life of a Senior Civil Engineer You will lead, support, and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure projects in a variety of settings, from roadway reconstructions and urban streetscapes to signature trail projects. You will use AutoCAD or MicroStation to produce deliverables, develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, and mentor colleagues to ensure high-quality outputs. The role involves coordinating complex processes across divisions and agencies, and documenting decisions from cross-organizational coordination meetings. You will work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the communities we serve. Work Schedule This full-time position typically requires a 40-hour work week. We offer flexibility to work from home 2 days per week. The Atlanta office is located in Inman Park along the Beltline and is accessible by foot, bike, or transit. Qualifications of a Senior Civil Engineer Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or related field Professional Engineer (PE) license 10+ years of experience developing construction documents for roadways or highways 5+ years in a project or design management role with a track record of managing projects Broad knowledge in civil engineering with experience in grading, drainage design and 3D modeling, roadway geometric design, and design of accessible public spaces Experience in preparing transportation and local agency design documents, including the GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP) Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating utility and right-of-way impacts, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape/hardscape layout Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation and a design software (Civil 3D or OpenRoads) is required Experience reviewing construction plans and providing constructive feedback Experience developing construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications Interest in multimodal and active transportation issues and design for bicycle, pedestrian, Safe Routes to School, and/or transit integration for all ages and abilities Preferred Experience Experience preparing proposals and scope/fees Experience in business development, networking with colleagues and clients at public events and industry organizations (e.g., ITE, ASHE, ASCE) Experience with stormwater design software (e.g., HydroCAD or HydroFlow) A desire to manage, mentor, and inspire staff Willingness to perform site or client visits You’ll be great here if You have a strong desire to build and lead your own team You want to manage a civil engineering team implementing creative roadway design solutions for cities, counties, and state DOTs You have strong leadership skills and enjoy multidisciplinary teamwork You are passionate about sustainability and working on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livable You enjoy producing high-quality work and seeing projects built You have strong communication skills, written and verbal You can build relationships and bring enthusiasm to projects You have strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail Join Our Atlanta Team We have a quick and easy application process.
