General Description

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of

PROGRAM SPECIALIST ASSIGNED TO SUPPORT SERVICES (IN-STATE EXTRADITION)

. This position coordinates the transportation of inmates to and/or from external Correctional Facilities.

PROGRAM SPECIALIST

VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS Communicate transportation procedures with correctional facilities and other law enforcement agencies where offenders are being housed. Serve as contact person for all transportation personnel within assigned territory.

Review, handle and distribute all related travel and transportation documents.

Retrieve all teletypes, warrants, transport information and court orders from paperwork received from Building 100 and the transportation mailbox in Booking and email. Confirm warrants are currently active by conducting warrants check utilizing Seminole County Warrants and NCIC/FCIC. Ensure all court orders contain the Judge's signature and Clerk of the Court Seal. Review all teletypes pertaining to inmate transports. Any court orders, which are returned, must also be documented along with explanation of return.

Upon processing and verifying teletypes, warrants and court orders, notify the appropriate agency to confirm the inmate location and status and make transportation arrangements.

Schedule transport of inmates with Support Service Deputies or the transport company. Provide transport list to the transporting Deputy, Booking Supervisor and a copy for file.

Check any outstanding contracted transport pick-ups for completion daily.

Provide transporting Deputies with information on inmates with special needs as well as travel routes.

Maintain a database of inmate transports.

Responsible for answering or making phone calls.

Performs other duties as required or as necessary for the effective and efficient operations of the Sheriff's Office. Minimum Qualifications

VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree preferred Two (2) years clerical experience Typing test is not required for this position Consideration may be given to equivalent combination of related training, education and experience Must be able to become N/FCIC certified within six (6) months of appointment to the position Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other

Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, modern office practices and procedures, including record-keeping methods; of all SCSO computer programs such as Caf, SCSONet, MICAD, TUSCON and ability to become FCIC/NCIC certified if needed for assignment. Ability to maintain confidential information; to work independently and with little supervision on a variety of complex issues; to research, organize, and prepare accurate reports, summaries, and/or tabulations; to meet with and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, offices, and the general public. WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment for this position is in an office atmosphere. Work is generally performed during normal business hours although the incumbent may be required to work any schedule that fulfills the needs of the position. Some assignments may be within the confines of a correctional facility, have direct contact with inmates or prior inmates, and/or be subject to an "on call" status. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Employment Application will disqualify your application. The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which you've applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
