Overview
Our client, a leading systematic hedge fund, is seeking a highly strategic and operationally adept Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and scale its crypto-focused initiatives. This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the executive committee, with a mandate to shape and execute the firm’s vision in digital assets within a global, data-driven, fully systematic investment environment. Key Responsibilities
Lead the operational strategy and execution of the firm’s crypto product vertical, ensuring seamless alignment with Trading, Research, Technology, and Risk functions. Oversee the full lifecycle of crypto products from inception to deployment, ensuring resilient infrastructure, operational efficiency, and institutional-grade risk controls. Act as the central point of coordination across quantitative researchers, portfolio managers, compliance, and engineering teams to deliver cohesive and scalable crypto solutions. Drive onboarding and integration of exchanges, custodians, liquidity providers, and market data vendors; ensure readiness for global 24/7 digital asset markets. Ensure adherence to evolving global regulatory requirements, while embedding robust internal controls; act as liaison between operations, legal, and compliance. Build, lead, and retain high-caliber talent across crypto operations; foster a performance-driven, intellectually rigorous, and innovation-focused culture. Maintain a high-fidelity view of the digital asset ecosystem, including infrastructure trends, regulatory developments, and strategic partnership opportunities. Requirements
Proven COO or senior operating experience within a leading hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, or digital asset platform Deep understanding of crypto market structure, custody solutions, tokenomics, and on-chain/off-chain infrastructure Experience scaling complex data-intensive trading products in a systematic or quantitative environment Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead across multiple teams and jurisdictions Prior experience engaging with regulators and legal/compliance frameworks across multiple asset classes Based in or willing to relocate to New York City or Greenwich
