Advanced Practice Provider - Gastroenterology
Hoag Health System is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Gastroenterology and Digestive Health program in Newport Beach, CA.
Base pay range: $120,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr
Overview Our team provides high quality care in accordance with professional regulatory standards and within the scope of the NP/PA license. The provider will perform patient evaluations and assessments, patient education, interventions, and document the plan of care. They may work as an independent provider and/or under indirect supervision of a supervising physician and may treat a variety of age populations.
Responsibilities
Provide patient evaluations, assessments, and education; document the plan of care
Request physician consultations and multidisciplinary consults
Operate within ethical, legal, and medical standards; consult appropriate resources as needed
May work independently or under indirect supervision of a supervising physician
Possibly see both outpatient and inpatient cases; determine appropriate scope of practice
Privilege-related duties may include arranging admission/transfer, exams, history and physicals, rounding, writing progress notes, and discharge summaries
Furnish medications (non-narcotic) and DME; manage controlled substances with appropriate licensure/certification
Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic services; assist with IV therapy and medications as needed

Outpatient and inpatient duties may be assigned

Education and Experience
Previous experience in Gastroenterology (GI) required; minimum two years as NP/PA in GI
Master’s in Nursing (MSN) or DNP or Master’s in Physician Assistant
Completion of proctoring by Medical Staff Office
Advanced clinical knowledge in care and management of patients
Experience in endoscopic management of obesity/metabolic disorders with emphasis on nutrition and lifestyle management
Provide ongoing care for patients with IBD, GERD, fatty liver, motility disorders, and other complex GI conditions
Current California NP/PA license in good standing; furnishing license and personal DEA number
BLS required; national board certification as NP/PA preferred
