Overview

Role:

Legal Counsel

at

FundApps . We’re scaling our legal function and looking for our first US-based Legal Counsel to join the team. Reporting to our Head of Legal, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering an ambitious roadmap of legal, compliance, and commercial initiatives. This is a hands-on role across commercial contracting, compliance frameworks, product reviews, and cross-functional enablement, shaping a legal foundation that helps FundApps move faster, smarter, and with confidence.

What You’ll Be Working On

The life of an in-house attorney at a growing SaaS company is varied and fast-paced. You’ll be involved in strategic projects and everyday operations, including:

Reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements (vendor contracts, data provider agreements, client terms, NDAs, DPAs).

Partnering with the Revenue team to resolve client contract queries, lead negotiations, and remove blockers to close by:

Running live negotiations (calls/video) with counterparties, procurement, client legal departments, and external counsel.

Pushing back on unfavorable terms, proposing alternatives, and explaining legal positions clearly and persuasively.

Balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes and adapting negotiation style to counterparties and business goals.

Guiding contracts through their lifecycle — order forms, redlines, renewals, amendments, terminations.

Flagging and escalating material risks, non-standard terms, or exposure where needed.

Improving contract management processes and tools — including renewal monitoring and standardising workflows.

Advising on legal and compliance aspects of new product features, especially related to data, AI, and integrations.

Tracking U.S. regulatory developments (AI, privacy, marketing laws) and delivering digestible, actionable updates to the business.

Responding to ad-hoc legal queries across the company (often via Slack), enabling quick and sound decision-making.

Driving legal ops projects that improve scalability and efficiency, such as:

Refining internal playbooks and building training resources for client-facing teams.

Evolving privacy and data governance practices for a scaling SaaS business.

Creating external compliance resources so clients can self-serve common questions.

What You’ll Bring To The Team

We’re looking for someone with great instincts, curiosity, and pragmatism — eager to learn and excited to help build something meaningful.

Must-haves U.S.-qualified attorney

(JD + New York bar admission or eligible for in-house registration).

3+ years’ relevant legal experience (in-house at a tech/SaaS company is a strong plus).

Strong commercial contracts expertise — drafting, negotiating, and issue-spotting, with deep knowledge of structures, risks (indemnities, liability, termination), and negotiation strategies.

Proven ability to lead real-time negotiations with confidence, clarity, and pragmatism.

Comfort working independently on contracts, with judgment on when to escalate.

Familiarity with U.S. privacy laws (e.g. CCPA/CPRA, GDPR) and an interest in tech/AI regulation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills — concise, business-friendly, persuasive.

A collaborative, hands-on mindset — willing to take ownership and roll up your sleeves as part of a small team.

Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism to handle negotiations across a range of client stakeholders.

Bonus points Experience with CLM tools or other legal tech platforms.

Previous exposure to SaaS or startup environments, ideally high-growth and fast-moving.
