Overview Uplift Education seeks a Senior Director of Talent Management to provide visionary leadership for the district’s talent strategy, focusing on developing and retaining exceptional educators, school leaders, and support staff. The SDTM will set strategy and manage execution of Talent Management functions including Career Pathways, Succession Planning, Org Design & Planning, Performance Management & Rewards, Employee Relations, Headcount Planning & Analysis, and HR Administration. The SDTM will provide leadership, direction, and expertise across all employee types and function as a business partner with an operational mindset.

The SDTM will design creative, practical HR solutions to drive outcomes aligned with organizational objectives. They will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and maintain healthy relationships to promote success. The SDTM reports to the Deputy Chief of People and collaborates with the People Leadership Team.

Duties/Responsibilities

Spearhead the network’s talent management strategies rooted in a compelling vision that ensures Uplift Education has a high-quality, competent, engaged workforce.

Translate strategy into operational execution to drive momentum and alignment.

Design and implement human capital and business management systems; support HRIS upgrades to ensure accurate employee information, compliance, and efficient personnel support.

Act as a trusted advisor and partner to Uplift leaders across the network.

Drive the design, development, implementation, and communication of strategic performance management and total rewards to attract and retain great talent.

Provide guidance to management on talent matters, direct HR staff, and develop policies and procedures according to federal and state law.

Lead, coach, and develop team members who deliver outstanding service and drive continuous improvement.

Establish strong cross-departmental relationships to ensure adoption of processes and policies.

Collaborate with the Chief People/CPIO and others to design and implement programs that improve human capital practices and workplace culture.

Lead a talent management function that executes with accuracy and delivers value in support of Uplift’s strategic plan.

Talent Management Department Oversight

Serve as the primary point of escalation in talent management matters.

Recruit, train, and supervise department staff and make recommendations related to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline and termination.

Evaluate job performance of department staff to ensure effectiveness.

Develop training options and improvement plans for department staff.

Manage the Talent Management Department budget.

Employment and Staffing

Ensure delivery of effective employee orientation and offboarding programs.

Manage renewal and nonrenewal of staff, including offer letter process.

Oversee certification, HQ compliance and reporting.

Oversee background screening for new hires and current staff in compliance with applicable laws.

Performance Management & Rewards

Design and implement performance management and rewards processes including goal setting, reviews, ratings, and compensation.

Develop and update job descriptions and classifications in Uplift’s compensation plan.

Administer compensation programs and ensure compliance with wage laws.

Lead salary and wage adjustment analysis in budgeting.

Administer and oversee benefits programs for employees including health and welfare program selection.

Ensure reconciliation processes are complete and up to date.

Employee Relations

Develop procedures to ensure employees understand personnel policies and programs.

Oversee grievance policy design and assist in hearings.

Update and distribute the employee handbook annually.

Data, Operations, and Employment Recordkeeping and Reporting

Supervise records management and oversee required records program.

Maintain systems for information retrieval and secure reporting.

Ensure systems contain accurate data and drive metrics to track effectiveness.

Qualifications Education, Experience, and/or Certification

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, or related field required.

Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible HR operations and/or leadership experience.

Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team and coach others.

Starting Salary $130,000
