Intellectual Property Biotech Patent Agent or Patent Scientist
Quarles & Brady LLP seeks a Biotech Patent Agent or Scientist to join our national Intellectual Property group practice. The office locations include Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Naples, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Tucson, and Washington D.C.; Madison, Milwaukee, or Chicago are preferred. Qualifications Ph.D. in life sciences or biology is required, preferably with experience in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, virology, microbiology and plant molecular biology/genetics. 1–3 years of patent prosecution experience is preferred. A strong academic record with the skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to succeed at the firm. Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, undergraduate and graduate school transcripts, and a writing sample no more than 5 pages in length of legal or scientific writing. Responsibilities Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the biotech and life sciences space. Engage in client counseling, prior art analysis, and patent strategy development in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients. Draft and edit legal and technical documents, including claims and responses to office actions. Collaborate with a national practice to support patent filings and portfolio management. The salary range varies by location: for individuals in Chicago and Washington D.C., the range is $100,000 to $140,000; for those in Denver, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Naples, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, and Tucson, the range is $100,000 to $130,000.
