The Manager will oversee a valuation unit responsible for second-line fair valuation of IFC’s investments portfolio, including emerging markets equity, funds, and debt products, and will work closely with the Investment Credit Equity unit, central portfolio management, investment teams, auditors, and IT teams. The role reports to the Director of Investments and Credit Risk Department (CIR) and has direct supervisory responsibility over approximately 14 staff. Team and scope: The manager will join IFC\'s CIR, part of the Risk and Financial Sustainability Vice-presidency, and will contribute to independent risk-reward assessment and valuations across the investment cycle. Role objective: Deliver high-quality valuations in line with governance, support quarterly cycles, and ensure consistency of methodologies across the portfolio. Lead and manage the valuation team to deliver high performance aligned with IFC\'s strategic goals, including coaching, knowledge sharing, and professional development; collaborate with CIREQ, central portfolio management, investment teams, risk specialists, and IT partners to support valuation workflows. As a second-line function, ensure equity and debt valuations prepared by portfolio managers are independently assessed, assumptions are challenged, and final valuations reflect IFC\'s best estimates. Ensure valuation assumptions and methodologies are consistent across the portfolio. Coordinate with CIREQ to promptly reflect material impacts on valuations and, as needed, watch lists from quarterly supervision meetings. Develop valuation frameworks, policies and procedures with cross-functional input. Lead preparation and delivery of training materials, lessons learned, case studies, CIR FAQs, and other knowledge management materials related to valuations. Build and maintain strong relationships with first-line valuation function, portfolio managers, global equity heads, and central portfolio management. Develop relationships with corresponding functions in IFIs to share knowledge and best practices. Be a contributor to the Investment and Credit Risk Department leadership team. Mentor and develop valuation staff; provide administrative and HR oversight as needed. Selection Criteria
Master\'s degree in business, finance or equivalent qualification. Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in emerging markets equity and debt valuation. Proven experience operating under pressure, including managing relationships with external auditors. Strong financial skills with deep expertise in handling complex debt and equity valuations. Experience managing a second-line valuation function with relationships to first-line functions while balancing team needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills for senior management and different audiences. Solid knowledge of valuation systems and ability to interface with IT teams. Proven experience in managing and developing teams.
