Journeyman Electrician

Journeyman Electrician role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex building and environmental systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and utility infrastructure. This position ensures all systems function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Key duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting energy management initiatives, and collaborating with other trades. The Journeyman Electrician utilizes advanced diagnostic tools and works with Building Automation Systems (BAS) to maintain optimal facility performance and environmental conditions. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Journeyman Electrician : $25-35/hour Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities Include: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, circuits, and components in an industrial setting Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals to perform accurate repairs and replacements. Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and National Fire Protection Association safety standards (NFPA 70E). Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, equipment malfunctions, and faulty wiring. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime Test electrical systems using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging cameras Follow established safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and inspections Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment. Adhere to lock-out/tag-out procedures and all site-specific safety programs. Work safely in environments where hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos, accumulated waste) may be present. Perform duties in confined spaces and at heights, as required. Possess the visual ability to distinguish colors, contrast, and depth necessary for electrical work. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Journeyman Electrician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: High School diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred Licensed as an industrial Electrician Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial electrical work Extensive knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial electrical systems and related equipment. Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, including the ability to compute and measure resistance, inductance, capacitance, voltage, and current. Proficient in the construction, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of complex circuitry and control systems, including those used in specialized projects. Skilled in the use of a wide range of electrical testing instruments, such as test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recorders, megohm meters, wattmeters, ohmmeters, and ammeters. Working knowledge of related trades, including power generation and HVAC systems. Ability to work independently or collaboratively with other trades to maintain and repair equipment. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to respond clearly and professionally to inquiries, including those from government representatives. Demonstrated flexibility in managing shifting priorities and the capacity to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if needed. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices
Familiarity with PLC programming and automation systems.
