Client Overview:
Our client, a fashion brand, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. Role Overview:
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and proactive in improving financial processes. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will collaborate cross-functionally with teams across Production, Operations, Ecommerce and Merchandising & Sales to ensure accurate inventory valuation and robust financial oversight. Responsibilities
Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis and present insights to senior management Own the accuracy of inventory costing, valuation, and reporting across finished goods, raw materials, and WIP Maintain and refine standard cost models in ERP systems (ApparelMagic, QuickBooks); experience with NetSuite and other ERP systems preferred for future growth Partner with cross-functional teams to validate inventory movements and ensure proper accounting for COGS, returns, and shrink Oversee the excess and obsolete inventory process and manage related reserves Liaise with banks for treasury activities and support daily cash management Ensure accurate application of sales and use tax across states and channels Oversee the preparation and filing of sales tax returns (or coordinate with tax consultants) Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Participate in system upgrades, accounting software integrations, or process automation efforts Help evaluate new tools or enhancements to support the scaling of the business Provide monthly reporting to department leads Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting policies, processes, and internal controls, particularly around inventory and cost accounting Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, systems upgrades, and audit support Support the Controller with external audit preparation and tax documentation Provide financial insights and support to teams across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the fashion, retail, or manufacturing sectors Strong understanding of US GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost analysis ERP system experience required; familiarity with ApparelMagic, NetSuite, and QuickBooks highly desirable Highly proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across departments Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability and confidentiality Experience in a wholesale or direct-to-consumer business model is a plus Seniority level
