CNA Financial Lines has an opening for a Complex Claims Consultant handling Private D&O, Fiduciary and Employment Practice Liability (EPL) Claims. This individual will work with insureds, attorneys and brokers regarding the handling and/or disposition of mid to high severity claims. This individual will investigate claims, coordinate discovery, and team with defense counsel on litigation strategy. This role requires the ability to utilize claims policies and guidelines, review coverage, determine liability and damages, set financial reserves, secure information to negotiate and settle claims, and present claims to leadership as needed. Critical to success in this role is being highly organized, independently motivated and responsive/communicative. CNA offers a hybrid work environment in one of the following locations: Chicago, Glastonbury, Lake Mary, Wyomissing, NYC area preferred, but candidates near any CNA location will be considered. Responsibilities

Manages an inventory of highly complex Financial Lines claims with large exposures, following company protocols to verify policy coverage, conduct investigations, develop and employ resolution strategies, and authorize disbursements within authority limits. Ensures exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim, interacting professionally, achieving quality and cycle time standards, providing timely updates, and responding promptly to inquiries. Verifies coverage and establishes reserves by reviewing policy language, partnering with coverage counsel on complex matters, estimating claim valuation, and following claim handling protocols. Leads focused investigations to determine compensability, liability and covered damages by gathering pertinent information and coordinating with customers, claimants, witnesses, experts, and counsel as necessary. Resolves claims by developing and executing a claim resolution strategy with internal/external partners, managing reserves, negotiating settlements, and guiding counsel on litigation as needed. Establishes and manages claim budgets, delivering high quality service efficiently. Assesses subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud and refers to appropriate resources for further investigation. Maintains quality standards by ensuring adherence to company protocols, accurate documentation, and timely resolution and payment of claims. Keeps senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses with loss summaries and concise senior management presentations. Stays current on regulatory requirements and industry trends for the line of business; mentors and trains less experienced claim professionals. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Analytical and investigative mindset with critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Strong work ethic with time management and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high productivity, and to negotiate complex settlements. Experience interpreting complex specialty insurance policies and coverage. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn business software. Respect for diverse opinions and ideas. Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; JD preferred. Typically a minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience, preferably in claim handling. In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The base pay range varies by location and other factors.
