Summary
King County Superior Court is seeking an effective and impactful leader to fill the role of
Manager III - Family Court Services . This position is responsible for the overall management of Family Court Services which operates in the areas of family law, domestic violence, adoption, dependency and Becca. The incumbent oversees Family Conciliation and Evaluation Specialists, Becca Case Managers, Dependency Mediators and supervisory staff. They will plan, organize, and direct the services of these operations and will work both independently and in teams to achieve program goals and objectives.
The Manager III provides oversight of the Family Law Parent Seminar, including development of procedures and curriculum, and works with family court, Becca and dependency judicial officers, court administration, and stakeholders on projects and committees related to improving court operations and Family Court Services' programs. The incumbent will take a leadership role in establishing an effective working relationship with community and governmental agencies, associations and other groups, and identifies and makes use of appropriate community resources to support program operations.

This position requires work at the King County Courthouse and the Clark Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle, and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, WA.
The work associated with this position will be performed through a hybrid work schedule of onsite and remote work. Employees must reside in Washington State and within reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.
Work schedule:
This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Variations from those hours may occur, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime-eligible.

Manage and oversee the Family Court Services programs. Determine program goals and objectives; develop policies and procedures needed to achieve the goals; determine and monitor case management, data, and records systems; conduct program evaluations. Oversee administration of the program's budget, including monitoring and approving all expenditures. Identify and negotiate funding streams including federal, state, local and private resources.
Negotiate contracts and/or agreements with state, county, and city agencies to implement contracted services. Work with city, county, and state agencies to manage contracts with community agencies to provide services. Monitor community provider agency performance of duties including quality assurance practices.
Hire, train, coordinate, assign work to and evaluate the work of employees, including subordinate supervisors, Family Conciliation and Evaluation Specialists, Dependency Mediators, and Becca staff; provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action if required. Routinely monitor and review work of all employees. Manage and evaluate subordinate supervisors.
Evaluate Family Conciliation and Evaluation Specialists who provide mediation, evaluation, domestic violence assessments and other services for families for Superior Court hearings and trials. Provide case consultation to social work staff on difficult cases and assess risk to clients and staff.
Deliver customer service to and respond to complex complaints and inquiries from both internal and external customers. Resolve complex issues that involve multiple agencies or departments. Work with local, state and national agencies and departments.
Provide technical guidance and direction to staff. Advise program staff of new procedures, court decisions and statutes in a specialized area of law.
Establish working relationships with community and governmental agencies, and the general public. Identify and use community resources to support program operations.
Represent the program in meetings and work groups, and is responsible for developing recommendations to internal and external Superior Court work groups that further the goals of the program.
Assist with planning and implementation of training for incoming judicial officers in family law, Becca, and dependency.
Supervise and provide oversight for parent seminar. Evaluate processes and ensure updates as necessary.
Provide backup for the Family Court Operations Director in the Director's absence.
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills A Master's degree in social work, public administration or related field and five years of program-related experience including three years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job is required.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of Washington State law in the areas of family law, adoption and domestic violence. General clinical expertise is required in alternative dispute resolution, evaluation and assessment techniques, domestic violence, child abuse, personality and mood disorders, substance use disorders, divorce, and adoption dynamics. Knowledge of BECCA and guardianship law is a plus.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Skill in working with diverse populations and/or emotional situations with a trauma-informed lens and cultural humility. Able to maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters. Skill in dealing with volatile customers, including de-escalation. Skill inconducting mediation, evaluation, conciliation counseling, and investigations.
Able to analyze, organize and prioritize work; adapt to changes in workload demands; multi-task and follow through. Able to conduct research on a specific work assignment. Knowledge of and ability to apply problem solving and conflict resolution techniques; able to develop solutions. Able to interpret legal terminology, court rules, and apply regulations, policies, and procedure.
Must have strong management and leadership skills.
