Base pay range
$175,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr VP of Finance | Multi-Strat Hedge Fund / Trading Firm This is not your typical back-office role—it's a hands-on opportunity to lead the financial operations of a fast-moving, trader-centric firm. In this role, you'll go beyond traditional fund accounting to take ownership of trade-level P&L, partnership allocations, incentive compensation, return reporting, and trader payouts. You’ll partner closely with the COO and Controller to build a scalable financial infrastructure and take full ownership of reporting, processes, and systems. What You’ll Do Partnership Accounting & Allocations
Maintain accurate partnership books, capital accounts, and performance-based fee calculations. Perform detailed P&L allocations across traders/entities. Trader Payouts & Incentive Compensation
Calculate monthly/quarterly trader payouts based on performance and contractual terms. Track high water marks, hurdles, clawbacks, and deferred comp. P&L Oversight
Own the daily/monthly P&L at trade, desk, and firm level. Reconcile and validate P&L with trading and risk teams. Analyze and explain P&L drivers and variances. Return Reporting & Capital Analytics
Report on total return, net return, and ROC by strategy/trader. Analyze contribution to return vs. allocated capital. Trade & Expense Tracking
Manage trade and expense attribution by trader/strategy. Ensure accurate allocations of costs (e.g., market data, transaction fees). Lead the audit and tax process, including K-1s and financial statements. Liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy. Process Ownership & Improvement
Own the firm’s financial reporting infrastructure. Identify gaps, improve workflows, and drive automation. MUST HAVES
6–12 years
of relevant experience in hedge fund/trading firm finance or accounting Deep understanding of
partnership accounting , P&L, and
trader compensation models Strong attention to detail , analytical mindset, and ownership mentality Experience working in a
trader-focused, fast-paced
environment CPA or equivalent financial certification is a plus Seniority level
