Job DescriptionJob Description Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedConstruction Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing, evaluating, and submitting accurate and competitive concrete proposals for residential and commercial construction projects. The Estimator will work closely with the Preconstruction Manager and regularly collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to help secure new work and contribute to company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Retrieve, review, and organize bidding documents including plans, specifications, and addenda.

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and related materials using estimating software (e.g., ProEst).

Interpret architectural and engineering plans, specs, and scope of work thoroughly and accurately.

Develop unit pricing based on labor, materials, equipment, indirect costs, overhead, and profit.

Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure scope and cost alignment.

Draft comprehensive bid proposals including clarifications, assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions.

Communicate with clients, design professionals, and internal teams to ensure complete and accurate estimates.

Utilize historical data and completed project analysis to improve future estimate accuracy.

Prepare full estimate packages including proposal documents, job notes, quotes, schedules, and correspondence.

Participate in handoff meetings between preconstruction and operations teams.

Maintain and update bid logs, tracking systems, and bid closeout documents.

Collaborate with fellow estimators to ensure consistency, provide mentorship, and monitor quality control.

Ensure estimates meet deadlines and department objectives.

Qualifications

3+ years of relevant experience in estimating for construction projects (concrete )

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field ( but not required)

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail

Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with estimating and digitizing software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam)

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines

Comfortable interacting with vendors, subcontractors, and clients

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based with extended computer and desk work

Occasional job site visits required to evaluate field conditions and project scope

Full-time schedule (40–50 hours/week); occasional extended hours to meet bid deadlines

Must be able to lift up to 30+ lbs and navigate active job sites (PPE required)

Must be able to walk, stand, reach, and use hands for typing or device operation

Requires good vision (close, distance, , peripheral, depth perception)
