Relocation Offered A leading industrial manufacturing facility in the Ashland, Virginia area is seeking a
Utilities Manager
to lead a high-impact team responsible for critical site operations. This role offers the opportunity to drive environmental compliance, operational excellence, and strategic improvements across a 24/7 plant site. Role Overview As the Utilities Manager, youll oversee a team of 2025 employees within a non-union facility, managing powerhouse operations, water treatment systems, and landfill oversight. Youll be the primary driver of environmental compliance, ensuring all activities meet regulatory standards and supporting key initiatives in sustainability, fire protection, and emergency response. This is a hands-on leadership role with approximately 75% of time spent in-office and 25% onsite at the water treatment facility, boiler, or landfill. Team Structure Directly manage 2025 Utilities team members Lead Line Centric Team (LCT): Asset Owner, Reliability Lead, Process Lead Report to the Maintenance Manager Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and compliance teams Key Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, VADQ) Lead inspections, reporting, and documentation for air, water, and waste systems Oversee aerobic water treatment operations; anaerobic experience highly preferred Manage powerhouse operations including water treatment across ponds, bayous, and rivers Build proactive relationships with regulatory agencies Drive continuous improvement and support capital investment projects Champion sustainability efforts including water and waste reduction Qualifications Proven leadership experience in utilities or environmental operations within manufacturing Strong understanding of environmental compliance and regulatory reporting Experience with aerobic treatment required; anaerobic treatment strongly preferred Ability to manage large teams and cross-functional initiatives Excellent documentation, communication, and relationship-building skills Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $120,000$150,000 Profit Sharing Bonus: 15%18% average Relocation Assistance: Flat fee offered Comprehensive benefits package Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
