Program Specialist

We are hiring a Program Specialist to join our team at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center! This job is great for someone who is friendly, organized, and enjoys helping people. You will work with a fun and supportive team that cares about the community and works hard to make Lee County a great place to live. Duties and responsibilities as a Program Specialist include: Helping customers at the front desk Taking payments and processing invoices Scheduling room rentals and events Creating newsletters and flyers Keeping records and files organized Using RecTrac (recreation software) for registrations and reports Supporting summer camps and fun day events Supervising volunteers and contracted instructors Promoting programs at community events Cleaning and maintaining the facility (vacuuming, mopping, restrooms, etc.) Opening and closing the recreation center Education, experience, and licensing required: High school diploma or GED (or similar experience) 6 months of experience working with school-age children Valid driver's license and clean driving record First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to get it within 6 months) Preferred: 1 year of Parks and Recreation experience 1 year of office experience (customer service, filing, making reports, etc.) Bilingual in Spanish Experience with RecTrac, Canva, and Microsoft Office What we're looking for: Someone who provides excellent customer service Someone who is honest, respectful, and professional Someone who works well with others and can stay calm under pressure Someone who can multitask and stay organized Someone who is comfortable using a computer and software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and RecTrac Someone who is willing to do both office and physical work (inside and outside) Someone who can work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed Extra skills that will help you succeed: Ability to handle many tasks quickly and accurately Comfortable talking to people and solving problems Good with money and basic math (handling payments, making deposits, giving refunds) Can use phones, radios, and computers at the same time Can stay calm and polite, even when it's busy or stressful Emergency response/recovery activities: All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed.
