Responsibilities: Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type, and value of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies stocked in the establishment by performing the following duties:

  • Counts material in stock and posts totals to inventory records. Using NextGen & Seagull.
  • Compares actual inventories to records in Metalware.
  • Adjusts errors in computation or count and/or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
  • Have the ability to receive material, do open rack counts, pulling obsolete scrap, material and disposition.

Qualifications:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in metals industry is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills which include verbal and written in English.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to learn mainframe program (internal computer system).
  • Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, or other measuring device.
  • Willingness to learn to operate forklift/side loader, crane and various material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.

Ability to work overtime as needed or required based on business conditions.

  • Position requires standing, sitting, stooping, and kneeling.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, with assistance.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception with or without corrected vision.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with varying temperature degrees.
