Responsibilities
- Executes confidential administrative support functions for and on behalf of the Dean of the Graduate School. Communicates independently with diverse individuals, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, students and vendors. Requires some availability outside of normal office hours as necessary. Time allocation: 40%.
- Manages the Dean’s calendar with accuracy and discretion. Researches, compiles, and organizes materials for meetings, events and speaking engagements. Plans domestic and international travel, including reimbursement of travel expenses related to the Dean. Time allocation: 30%.
- Oversees the records management system (hard and electronic) for the Dean. Plans and coordinates special administrative projects for the Dean. Time allocation: 10%.
- Assists the front desk staff in processing mail, answering or directing phone calls and emails to the appropriate person/office, document processing, and data entry, as needed. Time allocation: 20%.
Qualifications
- Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience: High school diploma or GED and 3 or more years of job related experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of University of South Carolina policies, procedures, and administrative systems.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to maintain flexibility and professional image while providing leadership to the Graduate School under stressful conditions, deadlines, and constantly changing schedules.
