General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers and is register-trained; greets customers, answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; thanks customers at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service calls; resolves issues with a courteous and helpful approach; escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, restocking/restrooms) to maintain store appearance.
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and adheres to monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and protects confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise.
  • Handles cash, check, charge card, and refunds with accuracy and adherence to procedures.
  • Performs duties with a sense of urgency and aligns with Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
