Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps aisles clear and reports any unsafe conditions.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers in any way necessary, is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers Customer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner.
- Greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a hello; thanks Customers at the register during transactions.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Customer Service calls and resolves issues with Store Leadership as needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and restocks as needed; maintains restrooms and high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily merchandising tasks to ensure a neat, clean, organized store following company standards.
- expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and presents items per monthly guidelines while maintaining brand name familiarity within departments.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards as applicable.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows all policies concerning cash, checks, cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; occasionally lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
