General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve our Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional; recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed; be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers with eye contact and a smile throughout the Store; thank them at the register.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to service calls immediately; resolve issues courteously and involve Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards; follow MOS policies and proper disposal procedures with Store Leadership review.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise; uphold integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follow policies and procedures for cash, checks, credit cards, refunds, voids and offline transactions; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency to efficiently perform duties and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use Store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
