General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understanding that safety is the number one priority and practicing safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment; keeping exits clear and reporting unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treating Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; being friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assisting Customers in various ways, including being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greeting customers throughout the Store and expressing thanks at each register transaction.
  • Providing prompt responses to Customer inquiries and service calls; addressing issues courteously and involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Representing and supporting the Company brand at all times.
  • Performing cleaning tasks and replenishing supplies to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to the Company dress code.
  • Performing daily sizing and recovery tasks to ensure an organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expediting newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandising items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understanding Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrating integrity and safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Following MOS policies and proper processing and disposal review with Store Leadership as needed.
  • Following policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintaining accuracy with tenders.
  • Maintaining a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shift: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
