General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and courteous language; recognizes fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed — register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; handles issues courteously and seeks Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store and team areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines to support monthly presentation standards.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follows cash handling, POS, and refund procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
- Maximizes productivity by executing Store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Addenda
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull and lift up to 25 pounds, with variations for Stockroom roles.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
