Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; uses Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers in person and at the register; greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a warm hello; thanks Customers at each register transaction.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls and escalates to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain a clean, organized store environment.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily merchandising and recovery to keep the store neat and well-presented.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and maintains merchandise/brand name familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention concepts and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS (Miss-Out-of-Stock) policies and proper disposal Review processes with Store Leadership as needed.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, and online procedures; maintains accuracy in handling tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties while maximizing productivity and following store best practices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including POS devices and registers.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasional heavier lifts may be required.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and rolling racks; some roles may require other qualifications.
  • Stockroom shifts may involve regular pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.
