General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress paths clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; maintains a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Assists Customers as needed—is register-trained, answers questions, assists with merchandise, and greets customers throughout the Store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; addresses Customer Service calls and issues politely and with the help of Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and customer/Team areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and restocking as needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention awareness and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
  • Follows all MOS policies and cash-handling procedures; maintains accuracy in transactions.
  • Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity while adhering to Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
