General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows store standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions across store areas as business needs require.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors on all tasks.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure shopping environment on the sales floor; report any unsafe conditions.
- Provide courteous and professional service to customers and colleagues; participate in recognition programs where applicable.
- Assist customers with merchandise, answer questions, and greet customers throughout the store; assist at the register as trained.
- Respond to customer service calls promptly and escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks and replenish restroom supplies; disinfect high-touch areas.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, well-merchandised store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor following company guidelines.
- Follow Loss Prevention and merchandise protection standards and MOS policies.
- Handle cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, and related procedures with accuracy and integrity.
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity through store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; may be required to lift up to 25 pounds (20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
- Ability to operate janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
