Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate maintains eye contact, smiles, greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, follows company standards, keeps a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. Tasks may be performed across store areas as needed to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe shopping environment.
• Maintain a clutter-free sales floor and clear egress to emergency exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat customers and fellow Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize colleagues using company programs.
• Assist customers — register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers throughout the store and thank them at checkout.
• Provide prompt, efficient responses to customer needs and escalate to Store Leadership when necessary.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain store and team areas.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandize per guidelines, and maintain product knowledge within departments to assist customers.
• Understand Loss Prevention concepts and merchandise protection standards; follow MOS policies and report disposals as needed.
• Handle cash, checks, credit cards, returns, and offline procedures with accuracy and integrity.
• Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and cooperative manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use all store equipment, including PDAs, registers, and PCs as required.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
• Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
