General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to engage in these tasks during all working hours and perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keeps egress to emergency exits clear. Corrects or reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps customers with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a friendly greeting; thanks Customers at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; handles Customer issues courteously and involves Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas; disinfects high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to maintain a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines; maintains merchandise/brand name familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Exhibits integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies for identifying MOS merchandise and notifying leadership for disposals.
  • Follows policies for cash, check, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and aligns with Store best practices to minimize steps and touches.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
