General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers and uses company recognition programs for colleagues.
  • Assists Customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers with eye contact and a friendly demeanor throughout the Store.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer needs; handles issues courteously and involves Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain clean, well-presented areas and replenish restroom supplies as needed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines to support monthly presentation standards.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies for identifying and disposing of MOS merchandise with proper approvals.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and aligns with Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for the majority of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
