General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and immediately reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a "hello" throughout the store and says "thank you" at every register transaction.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls immediately and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfects high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized per standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies, including identification and processing of MOS items and notifying Store Leadership for disposals.
- Follows policies and procedures for cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
