General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be requested to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers in a courteous and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers as they shop and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries and resolves issues, escalating to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, and disinfecting high-touch areas) and replenishes supplies to maintain store and team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily merchandising and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and well-presented.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per monthly presentation guidelines and brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understands Loss Prevention and merchandise protection standards and adheres to related policies.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all MOS (Miss-Out-of-Stock) policies, including identification and disposal review with Store Leadership.
  • Follows policies and procedures for cash, check, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures, maintaining accuracy in handling tender.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates working in Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
