General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers and is register-trained; greets Customers and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; says "hello" and "thank you" during interactions.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer Service calls and handles issues in a courteous manner, escalating to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes restroom supplies to maintain store and employee areas; disinfects high-touch areas.
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly guidelines; maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs, Store Protection Specialist role where applicable, and merchandising protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and protects confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies for identifying, processing, and disposing of MOS merchandise with Store Leadership approval as needed.
  • Follows policies for cash, check, credit card, refunds, voids, offline procedures; maintains accuracy with transactions.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently while following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of the working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; may need to push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
