Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and supports store operations as needed to meet customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed—register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers with eye contact and a smile; thanks Customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries and service calls; resolves issues courteously or involves Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes restroom supplies to maintain a neat store and well-maintained areas.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, organized store following company standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per monthly guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follows MOS policies and handles disposals with appropriate approvals.
- Follows policies for cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy.

Qualifications And Special Skills
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
