Overview
The Retail Associate at Ross Stores, Inc. is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets customers with eye contact, smiles, and “hello” and thanks during transactions.
- Provides prompt and courteous responses to Customer service calls; resolves issues and escalates to Store Leadership as needed.
- Represents and supports the Ross brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and maintains restrooms and high-touch areas to ensure a neat store and well-maintained team areas.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the company dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to maintain a neat, clean, and organized store following monthly presentation guidelines.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines, maintaining brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; follows all MOS policies and store cash handling procedures.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00 per hour, dependent on experience, skills, and location. This range is one component of total compensation.
