General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
• Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
• Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
• Assists customers and is register-trained; answers questions and helps with merchandise; greets customers throughout the store and thanks them at checkout.
• Provides prompt and courteous responses to customers; handles customer issues by involving Store Leadership when needed.
• Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks and maintains restrooms and high-touch areas to support store standards.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
• Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
• Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines.
• Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
• Follows MOS policies and proper processing for disposals when required.
• Handles transactions with accuracy and efficiency and follows all related procedures.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and align with store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

• Ability to use all Store equipment, including point-of-sale devices and registers.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
• Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
• Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
• Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
