Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be assigned to perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Is register-trained, assists customers with merchandise, answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets customers with eye contact and a smile throughout the store and says thank you at every register transaction.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to customers; responds to service calls immediately; handles issues courteously and calls a member of Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain store areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized according to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines, maintaining merchandise and brand name familiarity within departments.
- Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies and notifies Store Leadership to review and approve disposals.
- Follows policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.66 - $17.16, dependent on factors including experience and location. Benefits offered include health, life, vision, dental, and other programs. Full-Time associates may be eligible for extended benefits and bonuses based on performance.
