General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers and is register-trained; greets Customers throughout the Store and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer needs; responds to Service calls; resolves issues courteously and with leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, restocking) to maintain a neat environment.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily merchandising and recovery to keep store neat, clean, and well-presented.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals; handles cash, checks, card transactions, and refunds with accuracy.
  • Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds regularly.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
