General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; ensures clear egress to emergency exits; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers: is register-trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions, greets customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting; says "thank you" at every register transaction.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls; handles issues politely, involving Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store areas and replenish supplies; maintains cleanliness of restrooms and high-touch areas.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure the store is neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines; maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS processes, including identifying MOS merchandise and notifying Store Leadership for disposals.
- Follows policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.
- Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and minimizes steps and touches while following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
