General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all store areas as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps aisles clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates per company programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers throughout the Store and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; answers Service calls promptly and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and assists with restocking and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follows MOS policies and processes for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise.
  • Handles cash, checks, credit cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy and security.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in the workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills; stockroom shifts may involve lifting more than 20 pounds.
